Nobody Knows You’re Here by Bryn Greenwood: Not for the faint of heart!

Just imagine: you’re broke, without friends or family, and you’ll soon be homeless. Then a kind stranger buys you a cup of coffee and listens to your story. It’s so nice to be heard, and you enjoy the coffee and the warmth of her car. Then you wake up and find yourself in an unfamiliar room with a locked door. How did you get there? What’s going on? That’s the premise of Beatrice’s story in Nobody Knows You’re Here.
Nobody Knows You’re Here
Beatrice discovers she has been kidnapped by the kind woman and is being held prisoner in an unknown house. Meanwhile, there is a cruel woman, Isabel, who acts as her jailer, and whenever Beatrice doesn’t obey quickly enough, Isabel tasers her. Soon enough, Beatrice does as she is told, which means acting like a nanny for a little boy who is also being held prisoner. At some point, Beatrice also has to take care of a sullen teenage boy and a little girl. They have also been kidnapped and are being held for ransom.
Beatrice is provided with clothes and food, but all the labels have been cut out to make sure there is absolutely no clue where she might be. Since she has absolutely no other choice, Beatrice tries to make the best of a bad situation, though she is always looking for a way to escape from “them”.
Them
The people behind the kidnappings are simply called “them”. They are very powerful and will stop at nothing. Not even killing. In fact, this leads to a terrible moment in the story that truly shocked me—I still feel uneasy thinking about it.
Nobody Knows You’re Here is a great book
At first I had a little trouble getting invested in Beatrice’s story, but soon enough I was hooked, and it turned out to be a great story—not for the faint of heart, though. Terrible things happen, and terrible things are described. I also like that there is only one point of view in this book: Beatrice’s. None of those annoying shifts in perspective. There are no plot twists either. *Nobody Knows You’re Here* doesn’t need them to keep you hooked.
If you like psychological thrillers with a single point of view and a story that takes place mostly in one setting, you may enjoy this book as much as I did. It has a 4.07 rating on Goodreads, and I agree.
I definitely recommend this book though it’s not for the faint of heart.
You can get it at your local bookstore and Amazon.

Sounds creepy, thanks for sharing your thoughts
It’s not so much creepy as it is disturbing and gruesome.
I’ll definitely avoid this one!

Disturbing and gruesome??? Say less! I can’t add them to my Goodreads shelf fast enough! Thanks for telling us about them!!!!

It sounds just the sort of book I enjoy! Thanks very much for sharing your review.
I can’t do disturbing and gruesome anymore, so I guess I’ll skip this one.
I think skipping some books can be a healthy form of selfcare indeed Cat.
I do read gruesome books like this, I’ve not long finished one, but I have alternate with something cosy before go on to the next one. You have me intrigued with this book and I’ll definitely check it out.
This sounds terrifying! But good. Lol.
